EL RANCHO DE CACHE – Our Story
We are a boutique Paso Fino breeding and training ranch located in the
picturesque foothills of Los Angeles in the equestrian neighborhood of Shadow Hills.
We are committed to top quality breeding, expert training and helping each horse
find its true calling. We have found that a horse will let you know what it is meant to
do. Though we breed for the finest quality not every horse has the temperament or
talent to be a show winner. That same horse may be a great trail, exhibition, parade
or western horse. It may love to jump or be the perfect horse for an elderly or junior
rider. Above all we believe that a good horse is always well trained and loves what
it does.
BACKGROUND
Since her babysitter taught her how to draw horses Martha has loved them and
wanted one. From New England she started riding lessons at six learning both
English and Western style but never showed. Jim grew up in LA and joined the
California Rangers as a kid. Martha discovered Paso Finos when a friend donated
one to their children’s preschool charity auction in 1994. She was blown away by
their beauty, size, smooth gait and great temperament. Martha’s breeding and
ranching started when she became a partner in Paso Bravo, a large established Paso
Fino ranch in Agua Dulce, CA. When we met several years later we formed our own
smaller ranch, El Rancho de Cache, and relocated into the city in La Tuna Canyon in
Los Angeles. We designed our facilities and learned the ins and outs of running an
equestrian business.
We learned how important it is to start a horse correctly with a good foundation in
basics. Our goal is to breed a select number of top quality horses and offer first class
training for Paso Finos.
In the last ten years we have sold over 50 horses., introduced many new enthusiasts
to the breed and bred many National and Regional Champions. We brought
several excellent trainers to California including Gerardo and Angel Matos and
Western trainer Chris Crone. Our current National Champion trainer Raul Matos
worked for some of the best trainers in Florida and Puerto Rico. Our Champion Fino
Stallion El Marcador de Cache is exemplary in the breed and is producing
outstanding offspring.
Our professional performance drill team . Hollywood Paso Finos has been
televised all over the world helping to bring Paso Fino horses into the public eye.
Our trail riding, shows, clinics and other programs have brought pleasure to us and
to many horse enthusiasts.
CURRENT
Two years ago we relocated to Shadow Hills, a historic equestrian neighborhood with an active riding community. We maintain our ranch partly there and at a the nearby Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank. We invite you to come, see our beautiful Paso Finos, enjoy the meandering foothills from which you can access miles of trails, streams and lakes. We also have convenient restaurants and quick access to the city, the freeways and the Burbank airport.
